Full course description

You know the importance of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), but how is it affected by a distance learning environment? This course emphasizes developing peer-to-peer relationships among students across distance to foster community and team-based learning. Community builds over time, so the course begins with strategies for scaffolding SEL into your course as well as overviewing your role as the facilitator in developing positive group dynamics. Once community is established, students will benefit from positive interdependence, which allows them to safely take risks and, thus, enhance their opportunities to grow and learn. The course concludes with creating a plan for implementing SEL into your classroom as well as developing cooperative learning approaches by adapting one of your existing lessons.
