Full course description
Welcome to the OnRamps Student-Driven Self-Monitoring within a Distance Learning Cycle module. This module will look at self-monitoring and metacognitive strategies to include in unit material and assessments. You will learn about employing these strategies in a digital format learning cycle. In this module, we will establish the need for student-driven self-monitoring and assess our knowledge of metacognition. Students are often told to make sure to study for assessments without knowing where they stand in terms of mastery of content or strategies to employ in learning the material. With distance learning becoming a more prominent method of interaction, it is imperative that students gain mastery by learning to self-monitor and reflect on their performance. At the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Explain the meaning of metacognition learning mastery.
- Identify places in unit pacing for students to reflect on their academic strategies and provide feedback.
- Identify different metacognitive strategies to employ on the basis of the type of assessment.
- Create a plan to use in the first unit that employs a learning mastery and a student-driven self-monitoring system.
